Oblivion
A 2013 science-fiction film starring Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman and the Quantum of Solace actress Olga Kurylenko. The movie plot is set in 2077 in which Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) serves as a part of a two-person crew tasked with protecting Earth's remaining resources following a massive alien invasion that left the planet uninhabitable. Along with his partner Victoria (Andrea Riseborough), Jack oversees and maintains a deadly armada of defense drones – charged with shielding resource harvesters from the hostile "Skav" attacks.
Jack's soaring existence patrolling the breathtaking skies is brought crashing down after he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Drawn to Jack through a connection that defies logic, her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he thought he knew. His shocking discoveries which connect him to Earth of the past pushes Jack to a heroism he didn't know he contained within. The fate of humanity now rests solely in the hands of a man who believed our world was soon to be lost forever.
Oblivion was directed by feature-filmmaker Joseph Kosinski and was based on a graphic novel treatment that he co-penned with comic book writer Arvid Nelson (Dark Horse Comics' Rex Mundi).
