The Boy Who Cried Wolf

One of Aesop's Fables about a shepherd boy who repeatedly tricks the villagers with his lies. Out of boredom, the boy yells that a wolf is coming to attack his sheep. The villagers gather to help fight off the wolf, only to hear that it was just a trick. The boy does this several more times and the villagers become more frustrated with the boy each time. When a wolf really does appear to attack the sheep, the boy screams for help. None of the villagers help the boy because they believe it is just another trick. As a result, the wolf destroys the boy's flock.

The moral of the story is that there are negative consequences for lying and liars will not be believed even if they are telling the truth.
