passive safety

Passive safety refers to all design measures that help protect the car's occupants against injury or help reduce the severity of injuries in the event of an accident. Passive safety measures include the safety belt system, the airbags, the rigid occupant cell and the crumple zones at the front of the vehicle. The rear and sides of the body are among the most important safety features of today's cars and are designed to help dissipate most of the impact energy for the protection of vehicle occupants. In conjunction with active safety features, all Audi models provide excellent all-around protection.

Note: Airbags are supplemental restraints only and will not deploy under all accident circumstances. Always use safety belts and seat children only in the rear, using restraint systems appropriate for their size and age.
